As I bring this part of the study to a close, I want to return to where we began: the appointments of the seventh month.
Following their details led us into Jericho, Ezekiel, the Gospels, and Revelation. Those comparisons opened further questions, but the starting point remains important. Before interpreting a pattern, I want to preserve the appointments themselves.
Sounding, Atonement, and Booths
Leviticus 23:23–43 gives distinct appointments within the month.
The first day brings a memorial sounding and a holy assembly. The tenth day is the Day of Atonement, with humbling and rest. On the fifteenth, the seven-day Feast of Booths begins, followed by an eighth-day assembly.
The celebration includes rejoicing after the produce has been gathered and remembering Israel’s dwelling in booths after departure from Egypt.
These appointments belong together, yet each retains its own instructions. The intervals between them also remain part of the calendar.
The progression that first drew my attention was sounding, atonement, and dwelling, followed by a concluding assembly.
The Details Within the Pattern
Numbers 29 adds the offerings assigned to these occasions. During the seven feast days, the number of bulls decreases from thirteen to seven. The eighth day has its own offering arrangement.
The eighth day is counted from the feast’s beginning; it is not the eighth day of the month.
We also saw that sin offerings appear beyond the tenth-day appointment. That detail prevents me from treating the month as though cleansing belongs to only one isolated moment.
A broad pattern helps me follow the study, but the daily instructions keep that pattern from becoming too simple.
What the Comparisons Helped Me Notice
Jericho brought sounding, restraint, an appointed movement, preservation, and a completed outcome into view. Ezekiel drew attention to defilement, cleansing, Spirit, and Glory. Revelation opened comparisons involving trumpets, judgment, gathering, and dwelling.
I see connections among these accounts, but their participants and actions still need to be followed individually.
A shared trumpet does not automatically establish the same gathering. A repeated seven does not supply an unstated date. Being preserved, being called, and being brought into a particular role require attention to their respective passages.
For me, progression matters because the relationship between events can be lost when everything is combined too quickly.
Where This Study Rests
What I take from this study is an invitation to pay attention to how Jehovah appoints, distinguishes, and brings things to their stated outcome.
The sounding calls attention. Atonement addresses uncleanness and sin. Booths preserves remembrance and rejoicing. The concluding assembly remains its own appointment.
I continue to consider how these details illuminate the wider Scriptures. Questions about their prophetic relationships remain open, and some connections deserve studies of their own.
For now, this gives the Tishri series a resting place: the appointments preserved, the comparisons gathered, and room to return as understanding grows.
