Inside the Mind — Where the Word Leads
God’s Image Study | Study: Bridegroom and Bride
The ark’s capture led us to departing Glory. Ezekiel carries that thread further: departure has a sequence, and the vision of return brings voice, light, feet, and dwelling together.
Follow the departure
Glory moves from the threshold to the cherubim, then to the eastern gate. Ezekiel 10:18–19
Next, Glory rises from the city and stands over the mountain to its east. The Spirit brings Ezekiel to the captives, where he delivers what he has been shown. Ezekiel 11:22–25
The departure does not silence the testimony. Words still reach those in captivity.
This matters when following the relationship between a dwelling place and the presence associated with it. A location cannot secure that presence through its name alone.
Follow the return
In the later temple vision, Glory approaches from the east. The voice is like many waters; the earth shines. Ezekiel falls on his face. Glory enters through the eastern gate, the Spirit brings him into the inner court, and the house fills. He then hears speech from within it. Ezekiel 43:1–6
The sequence gives us details to preserve:
Approach → voice and light → falling on the face → entrance → Spirit’s movement → a filled house → words heard.
Hearing and seeing belong together here. We should follow their order in each passage rather than assume every encounter unfolds identically.
The place of the feet
The dwelling is identified with the throne and the soles of the divine feet. Defilement of the holy name is confronted, including the setting of human thresholds beside the divine threshold. Removal of the corruption accompanies the promise of dwelling. Ezekiel 43:7–9
Feet now enter our study within the language of presence and habitation.
This gives us a passage to place beside the developing Head-to-feet thread. The proposed connection between the Bride and completion at the feet remains a comparison to investigate; Ezekiel supplies the explicit connection between feet and dwelling.
Whose pattern governs the house?
Ezekiel is instructed to show Israel the house so that its pattern can be measured, understood, and kept. Ezekiel 43:10–12
The question of identity therefore reaches beyond a claimed name. What governs the dwelling? What is admitted at its threshold? What words shape its order?
For our Bridegroom and Bride study, these questions help us examine the relationship between receiving the word and becoming a dwelling place for its source.
Threads to Follow
Ephesians 2:15–22: continue the sequence of union, access, household, and dwelling through the Spirit.
John 14:23–26: words kept, a dwelling promised, and teaching through the Spirit.
Revelation 21:2–3, 9–11: Bride, city, dwelling, and Glory.
Thresholds: compare Ezekiel’s defiled threshold with Dagon’s fall, preserving the different settings and actions.
Abomination of Desolation Study: continue departure, defilement, and restoration.
